Nexa was founded in 2017 by Eliot Hibbert and John Roberts with full approval from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) as a regulated law firm.
In January 2020, Nexa Law expanded its reach by acquiring Peregrine, a well-established law firm. This acquisition broadened Nexa's service offerings and marked its strategic entry into the London legal market, boosting its national presence.
Following the Peregrine acquisition, Nexa Law opened its London office in 2020. This expansion into the UK's commercial and legal hub enhanced Nexa's accessibility to clients and underscored its commitment to growth.
By the end of 2020, Nexa Law had grown its team to 50 skilled lawyers. This milestone reflected the firm's success in attracting top legal talent, positioning it to deliver exceptional services across various practice areas.
By 2022, Nexa Law doubled its roster to 100 lawyers, showcasing the success of its flexible, modern legal platform. This growth reinforced Nexa's reputation as a thriving legal community with a significant industry impact.
Today, Nexa Law has grown to 200+ lawyers, solidifying its status as a leading industry frontrunner. This ongoing expansion highlights Nexa's commitment to innovation and quality, offering an unmatched experience for clients and legal professionals alike.

Everything you need to know about joining Nexa as an individual lawyer
Our systems are configured for litigation patterns. Counsel fees, expert costs, and court fees are managed through the platform. Nexa can advance disbursements in appropriate circumstances, and our finance team handles recovery post-resolution.
Yes. Nexa supports consultants taking on conditional fee arrangements and damages-based agreements. Our compliance team reviews the arrangements to ensure SRA requirements are met, and your fee share applies to the final recovery.
Nexa carries professional indemnity insurance up to £10 million with no excess on claims. This is particularly vital for litigators handling high-value commercial fraud, professional negligence, or multi-party proceedings.
Absolutely. You maintain your existing relationships and instruct counsel directly. Fees are simply processed through the Nexa cashiering system for seamless administration.
Your client relationships are yours. If you choose to leave, we work with you to plan a transition that protects the clients and meets SRA requirements, ensuring you retain the relationship throughout.
Yes. Nexa offers a financial support arrangement for new consultants to help bridge the move from a salaried role while your litigation rhythm establishes itself in the new structure.
You sign a Consultancy Agreement with Nexa Law Limited and operate under its SRA authorisation. Most consultants work through a personal service company, and onboarding typically takes between two and four weeks. Nexa’s recommended accountants can assist with setting up a personal service company if needed.
Once on the platform, you manage your litigation practice exactly as you do now: issuing proceedings, corresponding with opponents, attending hearings, instructing counsel, and managing your clients through their disputes from start to finish. Nexa handles compliance, insurance, banking, cashiering, and administration. The disbursement management system is specifically designed for contentious work, accommodating counsel fees, expert costs, court fees, and the recovery of costs following judgment or settlement.
For litigators considering how to leave their current firm and go independent in the UK, the Nexa model provides the structure to do this without losing the firm-level functions that support complex litigation practice. You can work under your own personal or business brand, the Nexa name, or a combination. Litigators with a strong personal reputation in a specific field, whether that is construction disputes, professional negligence, or commercial fraud, often maintain their personal brand while using Nexa’s regulatory and operational infrastructure.
Nexa is looking for civil litigation and dispute resolution solicitors with at least eight years’ PQE. You need either an established client base or a specific and realistic plan to develop one as a consultant litigator. The model suits experienced solicitors who can assess contentious matters, advise on litigation risk, manage complex disputes from inception to resolution, and maintain client relationships over extended proceedings.
Nexa is a particularly strong environment for ambitious, high-achieving senior associates with a strong commercial dispute resolution track record who are ready to build their own litigation practice, and for experienced partners who want to continue handling the contentious work they are known for without the management obligations that currently sit alongside it.
