Jonothan’s practice covers two distinct areas:
(i) in his commercial litigation practice he helps global brands, SMEs, founders, entrepreneurs and individuals resolve business disputes; and
(ii) in his litigation advisory practice he advises litigation funders, insurers, law firms, class representatives and other stakeholders involved in litigation including High Court group actions and competition collective actions.
Previously at Travers Smith, Mishcon de Reya and Hausfeld, Jonothan spent 12+ years in private practice advising all kinds of businesses on their litigation, from household names such as Breville, Sainsbury’s and Microsoft, to SMEs and one-person founder businesses. Whether it’s navigating a pre-action settlement or taking a case to trial, his approach is to offer straightforward advice that aligns with his clients’ commercial goals.
Jonothan’s litigation advisory practice is derived from his unique experience advising on the largest class actions in the UK, and working extensively with litigation funders, insurers and other law firms to investigate, structure, secure funding for and filing new claims. He advises various stakeholders on the entire life-cycle of the claims, from helping litigation funders to understand their investment and portfolio risk in a potential new claim, to acting as an independent advisor to class representatives or assisting law firms with case-structuring including case workup, merits, funding and insurance packages.
