Background and Expertise
Simon qualified as a solicitor in 1997 having completed the law conversion course and the legal practise course, and following serving with the Cheshire Regiment in Hong Kong, Cyprus, Canada, Northern Ireland, Germany and Bosnia. Simon trained in Chester and has worked in Chester and Manchester during his legal career.
His in-depth knowledge and experience is in non-contentious property law and includes acquisitions, disposals, options, and site assembly for development. He has conducted large-scale voluntary registrations, as well as bespoke registration applications to resolve missing title deeds prior to disposals.

With long standing knowledge of ecclesiastical property Simon represents Church of England bodies on a diocesan and local level. Simon acts for diocesan boards of finance, incumbents, and sequestrators in relation to benefice land. Acting for parochial church councils and for diocesan authorities, in property matters, including voluntary registrations of glebe and parsonage land and diocesan corporate property as well as in circumstances where the diocese acts as custodian trustee for other organisations.
Over the years, Simon has also developed a wealth of experience in utilities and operational property matters for utility companies, in particular for the only regional not for profit water utility provider.
Work
Outside of legal work, Simon is a member of the Fell Running Association, the International Trail Running Association, and is a qualified Mountain Leaders. His passion for mountain running is evident, with accomplishments ranging from UK fell running to ultra trail events, including five completions of the Ultra Trail Mont Blanc and the Dragons Back Race in 2012 and participation in various races across Europe, Australia, and South Africa.
