Eid-al-Fitr

Eid-al-Fitr

The holy month of Ramadan is drawing to a close, and Muslims around the globe are looking forward to celebrating Eid-al-Fitr!

Eid-al-Fitr translates as, “the breaking of the fast” because, during Ramadan, Muslims will go without food or drink from dawn till dusk each day.

Most of us would find that a huge struggle and can only imagine the extent of the partying that must accompany the end of such abstinence!

The length of Ramadan and the start of Eid depends upon the sighting of the new moon, so the date changes every year.  This year, in the UK, Ramadan will end on Sunday 1 May and Eid will be celebrated from Monday 2 May to Tuesday 3 May.

From all of us at Nexa, “’Eid Mubarak”.
