Background
John’s work includes all types of landlord and tenant litigation issues such as dilapidations/disrepair, tenant insolvency, forfeiture, break notices and contested and uncontested lease renewal proceedings and the drafting of all notices required, and also adverse possession, restrictive covenants, easement and right of way issues. He also undertakes most areas of commercial litigation, including SPA, contract and warranty disputes and advice on the enforceability of personal guarantees.
As well as practising at the Bar, during his legal career John has been a partner for many years in national firms, including running commercial litigation departments. He has also until recently acted for 16 years as a director of a listed construction PLC, advising generally on disputes and strategy, including chairing the remuneration committee.
John will always provide an objective opinion to allow the client to make an informed and commercially pragmatic decision on how to proceed, and whilst he acts tenaciously for his clients, being a qualified mediator he understands the need to resolve disputes in a cost effective and commercially pragmatic manner.
